Ingredients - manath thakkali keerai paal kootu
black night shade spinch - 1 bundle
( kamanchi chettu in Telugu, makoy in Hindi, kakkesappu in Kannada, )
Monng dal - 3 tsp ( split green gram / pasi paruppu )
coconut milk - 3 tbsp
cumin seed - 1 tsp
green chili - 2
onion chopped - 1/5 cup
garlic chopped - 7
Method - manath thakkali keerai paal kootu
1. Soak moong dal for 30 minutes. Pressure cook this dal and it should be 75% cooked. set this aside.
2. Heat the kadai with a tsp of oil & add cumin seed, Once it splutters, saute onion , garlic, green chili till it becomes tender.
3. Now saute spinach for 2 minutes . Now add 75 % cooked moong dal with spinach. Add required water for cooking.Let it cook for 5 minutes on high flame.
4. Once it cooked, let the water dry up. Now add salt and turn off the flame. finally add coconut milk with spinach. SEE VIDEO
5. Serve this spinach coconut milk curry with rasam rice
