Ingrdients - Tomato kulambu / Thakkali kuzhambu
Tomato -3
Onion - 1/2 cup
Garlic - 2
Chilli pdr - 1 tsp
Coriander pdr - 1 tsp
Toor dal / thuvaram paruppu - 4 tbsp
Tamarind - small pulp
Mustard seed - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida & turmeric pdr - pinch
Method - Tomato kulambu / Thakkali kuzhambu
1. Cook toordal till you get mushy dal. Set aside
2. Heat a kadai with a tsp of oil, crackle mustard seed, urad dal, cumin seed. once it is done saute garlic, onion, curry leaves, tomatoes for 2 minutes. Add asafoetida ( hing / perungayam ) and turmeric pdr. Mix it well.
3. Add chilli pdr, coriander pdr, required water, tamarind water, salt with sauteed ingredients. Shift this mixture to a pressure cooker with cooked toor dal. Let it cook for 2 pressure sounds.
4. Open the cooker when the temperature subside, sprinkle some coriander leaves.
5. Tomato kulambu is ready to serve.
