Tomato chutney ( Tamil video - English text 0
This tomato onion chutney goes well with idli, and dosa. Mild sweet taste of this chutney is because of roasted large onions
Ingredients
Tomato - 4
onion - 3
mustard seed - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
red gram - 2 tsp ( toor dal, thuvaram paruppu )
hing or asafoetida - pinch
tamarind - small amla size
green or dry chil - as per your taste
garlic - 2 cloves
coriander leaves
preparation
1. Heat the oil and fry red gram. At the time of changing its colour add mustard seed and urad dal. Add hing.
2. Add garlic and fry for a while longer until the garlic does not smell raw anymore.
3. Add tamarind, chili, onion and after getting brown onions add chopped tomato.Mix well and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and the mixture is moist. ( No need to add water )
4. Add coriander leaves.
5. Set aside to cool. After cooling grind the mixture and get your delicious onion tomato chutney
