Easy Tomato Rasam Recipe / Rasam recipe for rice

There are so many rasam recipes like Milagu rasam, Paruppu rasam, Kollu rasam , Puli rasam , But Tomato rasam is the basic one for all. Begin your journey of cooking from Rasam. Then I'm sure you will know all.

Ingredients

Tomato chopped - 2
Cumin Pepper powder - 1 tsp ( powder form of cumin 1/2 tsp + pepper 1/2 tsp )
Turmeric - pinch
Tamarind - amla size
Asafotida/hing/perunkayam - pinch
Garlic - 2 ( crushed )
Dry chili - 2

For Seasoning

Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp

Method

1.In a kadai heat 2 tsp of oil and add seasoning ingredients. Then add dry chili, garlic, curry leaves, asafoetida  - Fry for a minute.
2. Then add tomatoes and saute it till it becomes mushy. Don't add water without sauting tomatoes as tomato juice won't blend well with rasam. Then you will lose the tomato taste of rasam.
3. Now add tamarind water from tamarind pulp.Add cumin pepper powder, salt, turmeric - Boil it once and turn off the flame.

Note - For rasam salt should be excess  ( little bit ) , It will be equalized when we have it with rice.
