Puliyodharai recipe - Tamarind rice recipe - Variety rice

This puliyodhara is a traditional rice recipe of India with very little variations. Kids like this very much as lunch box recipe. Now....

Ingredients

cooked rice - 2 cup
tamarind - amla size
peanuts - 4 tbsp
mustard seed - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1/2 tsp
turmeric pdr - pinch
asafoetida - pinch
curry leaves, oil , salt
green chili - 1
dry chili - 1
puliyodharai powder 1 tsp

To Make PULIYODHARAI POWDER 

( roast 1 tsp of rice,  1/4 tsp of fenugreek seed,   1 no.of dry chili on low flame  - then powder it -  If you like to store them you can take them in  1: 1/4:  1  ratio . Roast & powder it - then store this powder in a air tight container. It gives awesome flavor to this puliyodarai. So pls don't skip it. )

Method

1. Add a tsp of oil in a kadai, roast peanuts on low flame - set aside.
2. Again heat 4 tbsp of oil in a kadai - add mustard seed, urad dal, - Once it splutters add asafoetida, green chili, dry chili, curry leaves, thick tamarind water, turmeric powder, puliyodharai powder - let this mixture boil for 10 minutes on low flame.Add salt. Do mix the contents while it is cooking. 
3. Within 10 to 12 minutes the oil will separate on the sides, and boiling tamarind will appear like a thick but flowing paste. Remove from heat. 
4. Now mix the cooked rice with this and add roasted peanuts. Serve this puliyodharai sadam
