Milagu poondu kulambu / south indian poondu kuzhambu

Ingredients - Milagu poondu kulambu 

Garlic - 10, 12
Onion - 1/4 cup
Jaggery - small cube
tamarind - amla size

To Grind - Milagu poondu kulambu

Tomato - 1
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Chilli pdr - 3/4 tsp
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Coriander pdr - 1 1/2 tsp
Cumin seed or pdr - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seed pdr or seeds - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric pdr - pich
Hing / Asafoetida

Seasoning ingredients - Milagu poondu kulambu 

Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seed - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/4 tsp

Method  - Milagu poondu kolambu

1. Grind all the ingredients under 'To Grind ' to fine paste and set aside.

2. Heat 3 tsp of oil, add mustard seed, fenugreek seed, urad dal, cumin seed.  Let it crackle. Saute garlic, onion, curry leaves for 3 to 4 minutes till you get brown onions. 

3. Now add ground masala paste with required water, salt, jaggery, tamarind water. let it boil for 7 to 10 minutes on high flame. ( Adding jaggery with puli kulambu gives mild sweet taste, If you do not like that sweet taste with this puli kulambu you can skip it )

4. Garnish it with coriander leaves, molagu poondu kulambu is ready to serve.
