Ridge gourd chutney

Ridge gourd chutney 

( peerkankai chutney / side dish for idly and dosa )
Tori / Thurai / beerakai / turiya /dodka

Ingredients - Ridge gourd chutney 

Ridge gourd slices - 1/2 cup
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Garlic - 2 no.
Onion - 1/4 cup
Tamarind - small amla size.
Green chilli - 2
Asafoetida / hing - pinch
Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 3/4 tsp

Method - Ridge gourd chutney 

1. Heat 2 tsp of oil, splutter mustrad seed, urad dal. Saute onion, garliv, curry leaves, green chilli, asafoetida till they turn tender.
2. Now saute ridge gourd / peerkankai, coconut, tamarind for 3 minutes on low flame. Add salt. Grind this mixture to coarse chutney or fine chutney.
3. Ridge gourd chutney / peerkankai chutney is ready to serve with idly, dosa.
